After years of dreaming about dedicating myself to photography, in 2008 I finally took the leap. Three trips to India later and I'm amazed and grateful for how far things have come, although it's really just beginning.

The photos on this site reflect a small fraction of my interests in places and cultures around the world. Studying European history gave me a global perspective and an understanding of documentary photography and film, but it took me years to put the two together for myself. Once I did, photography became a natural extension of the way I travel and connect with people and places. My next step is to start documenting specific cultures in transition or endangerment (such as Ladakh and Zanskar) and tell stories worthy of being published.

Why start with India? It's a learning experience like no other. Not only is it extremely challenging, but the diversity of peoples, cultures, religions, languages, landscapes, architecture, etc. is truly astounding. One lifetime isn't enough (and maybe that's where reincarnation helps!). But like most places in the developing world, India is quickly becoming globalized, traditional life is disappearing, and new crisis are emerging. In another decade or so many things will change and vanish, and so could much of the beauty in people's everyday lives, which I find a privilege to witness. That in itself is enough to keep me photographing for as long as I can.
